Achievable rate regions for bi-directional relaying

چکیده
In a bi-directional relay channel, two nodes wish to exchange independent messages over a shared wireless half-duplex channel with the help of a relay. In this paper, we derive achievable rate regions for four new half-duplex protocols and compare these to four existing half-duplex protocols and outer bounds. In time, our protocols consist of either two or three phases. In the two phase protocols, both users simultaneously transmit during the first phase and the relay alone transmits during the second phase, while in the three phase protocol the two users sequentially transmit followed by a transmission from the relay. The relay may forward information in one of four manners; we outline existing Amplify and Forward (AF) and Decode and Forward (DF) relaying schemes and introduce novel Compress and Forward (CF), and Mixed Forward schemes. The latter is a combination of CF in one direction and DF in the other. We derive achievable rate regions for the CF and Mixed relaying schemes for the two and three phase protocols. In the last part of this work we provide a comprehensive treatment of 8 possible half-duplex bi-directional relaying protocols in Gaussian noise, obtaining their respective achievable rate regions, outer bounds, and their relative performance under different SNR and relay geometries.

متن کاملAchievable rate regions and outer bounds for a multi-pair bi-directional relay network
In a bi-directional relay channel, a pair of nodes wish to exchange independent messages over a shared wireless half-duplex channel with the help of relays. Recent work has mostly considered information theoretic limits of the bi-directional relay channel with two terminal nodes (or end users) and one relay. In this work we consider bi-directional relaying with one base station, multiple termin...
متن کاملOn the Achievable Rate-Regions for the Gaussian Two-way Diamond Channels
In this channel,we study rate region of a Gaussian two-way diamond channel which operates in half-duplex mode. In this channel, two transceiver (TR) nodes exchange their messages with the help of two relay nodes. We consider a special case of the Gaussian two-way diamond channels which is called Compute-and-Forward Multiple Access Channel (CF-MAC). In the CF-MAC, the TR nodes transmit their mes...

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...
متن کاملJoint Network and LDPC Coding for Bi-directional Relaying
In this paper, we consider joint network and LDPC coding for practically implementing the denosie-and-forward protocol over bi-directional relaying. the closed-form expressions for computing the log-likelihood ratios of the network-coded codewords have been derived for both real and complex multipleaccess channels. It is revealed that the equivalent channel observed at the relay is an asymmetri...
